Question of the day...

OK gang... here's the question of the day. I'm interested to hear your responses:

"What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?"

Let's hear it...

Pat, my answer is: I'd do what I've been instructed to do. Knowing that I'd get no rejection or objection my task would be simple. First I'd open up the Word of God to all the non-believers I know. Not that I don't try when I can, but a lot of people don't want to hear about it - and I know I've strained some of my friendships already. Next, I'd take on the people I don't know and spread the Word. If I couldn't fail, then it's a no-brainer. World peace, curing diseases, bringing an end to starvation (the number 1 cause of death in the world), would probably follow if I were given this ability for more than one cause. But without God, it really doesn't matter. David

Pat, Would you clarify the playing field? Is this to be something attainable in the real world? Don and I and a few close friends have been debating this question for almost a week and whether it is wishful or reality makes a big difference. Vickie Thornton

Good question, Vickie...

I look at the question as a "mind-expander." If I knew that I couldn't fail, what would I try? And if failure is the only thing keeping me from trying, then what am I waiting for?

Hope that helps clarify.

-Pat

I once had a mentor that had that question on his desk. Funny you should ask. We all know I would play outside linebacker for the Raiders. But I believe you want us to try things outside of our comfort zone, not get killed. I would start a youth ministry that brought local churches together, instead of them fighting to get them (students)in their church for all of the reasons that are selfish. We are too concerned with people getting involved in our ministries, instead of maximizing the number of people being ministerd to. Our goals are skewed. Funny how the gift of ambition that God gives us that facilitates growth in our ministries, always has a sence of selfishness to it.

Ok Pat - I guess I will just grab the ring and say that I have a real heart for all lost souls especially those who think they have chosen Christianity but are deceived. False religions that claim the Christian faith but are far from the truth hold captive so many. I believe the bible is true and the absolute standard for the Christian faith. I would love to be apart of an investigational class exposing cults by using this standard to investigate the truth of true Christianity vs. their deceptive beliefs. An open forum of questions and answers that allows each person the ability to see and hear what God says the truth of the bible is verses what they have been told to accept as some unbibical phophecy. I know personality, that some religions don't allow the freedom to question or hear the real truth, as we know it. To openely give an opportunity of hearing God's word vs. their Prophet's words would at least give them the chance to hear the truth of God's Word. They could then make their own educated choice knowing that this choice is eternal. The fact that I would have No fear of failure would be exhilarating! Vickie Thornton
