“This is what it really comes down to... If this is the way God made me, then this is the way I’m going to live. It’s not like God made me this way and he’ll send me to hell if I am who he created me to be… I really feel closer to God because I no longer hate myself.”
I dunno. I think it depends on how he lives it out.
I don't know if I believe that someone people have gay feelings when they are born or not but that isn't the issues. The issues is that it clearly sin so act upon it (just like any sin). There is no sin in being tempted.
Therefore, I think that if Ray believes that he was "born gay" that's fine. I read alittle about his case and I couldn't tell if he was living the gay lifestyle or not, but if he isn't but he's merely accepting the way that (he believes) God made him that seems okay to me.
On the other hand, if he believes that God made him that way so it's okay to practice homosexuality then he's got big problems with deception just as doc said above.
Flying with Enouch, it's pretty apparent how he is living it out: "If this is the way God made me, then this is the way I’m going to live."
He is using the same old argument - God made me this way and I am being true to myself and (implied) true to God if I live a gay lifestyle.
The kicker for me was this statement: "I really feel closer to God because I no longer hate myself."
What he is saying is that he "feels" closer to God when he is disobeying God. Sorry, Ray... that ain't how it works. You may "feel" anything you like. You aren't closer to God. You are further away from Him.
You're probably right but I hope you see my point.
If you're gay that isn't a sin. If your practicing homosexuality thats the sin.
I was just trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. I read something that gave me the impression that he tried the dating/bar scene and it wasn't satisfying (big surprise right?). So I was hoping he was rejecting the practice.
While I am a pastor at New Covenant Community Church, everything on this blog should be considered my personal opinion. Opinions, conclusions, or other information expressed here do not necessarily reflect the views of New Covenant, my co-workers, or my staff. Don't blame them. This is all me.

Guess not, it's a shame.
